Re: What do we want from the Huddersfield game?
Much as Sir Alf has described below I want to see a level of fitness that we have not seen since we left Upton Park.

Sitting so high at St James it was obvious that Newcastle were so much fitter than us and their two men closing down the ball all the team made such a mess of our passing it around the back that we were pressured in to going back to Hart for a punt up field which more often than not gave the ball away.

Without the proper fitness a lot of what else is required cannot be done.

I like Bilic and have a lot of sympathy for him dealing with a cunt like Sullivan but the one area that is totally down to him is the fitness of the players.

I remember we went to White Hart Lane one season. The Yids were on a awful run and hadn't won in a while. Anyway, they smashed us 3-1 and still sacked Ossie Ardiles the next day.

That's what we should do, win 3-1 and sack that useless Croat.

Dr Moose - and don't forget Ayew! I really think Sakho should be given a run, maybe once bilic is gone?

Ayew and Fernandes injured. Lucky we have such strength in depth ... with the smallest listed squad in the PL!!

Re: What do we want from the Huddersfield game?
Hmmm.... Huddersfield... a team limited in the technical sense but exponents of the high pressing game which is our nemesis.

Bilic's key task is to get the side fit and engaged to handle the relentless closing down Wagner will have this mob employing. We need the players fully fit, to work hard for 90 minutes and be in a formation and tactics to handle the counter attacking style they will employ. Cannot see why Bilic would get all this right.

He will stick with his back 4 rather than a 5 and there will be a place for Noble over Obiang no doubt. He really has a downer on Pedro. Reluctant to give him a game and when he does establish himself, drops him after his first bad game in ages ( and that was part of him coming back from a season ending injury ). The reason is he has to make room for Noble and sees Obiang to be the obvious choice in the central role rather than Kouyate who is more box-to-box in his eyes I guess? The fact that Kouyate would be more effective just breaking up play and closing down and not wandering up the pitch and not chasing back, is discussion for another time.

So what do we want? A win but more importantly a level of intensity from the team and a formation that is defensively compact and strong with a physical presence and hard work in midfield.

Failing that we need the post to have another MOTM performance

Re: What do we want from the Huddersfield game?
Lets be honest, we have a good if thin squad. And we should be winning games. Huddersfield are not a scalp and now they've had a break and maybe performed above their stations, I am expecting three points. Anything less is unacceptable.

Re: What do we want from the Huddersfield game?
We all know he'll play Noble, for that reason alone he deserves to be sacked Monday evening.

Re: What do we want from the Huddersfield game?
i'd go with 3 at the back:

zabaleta, Reid (if available) and Ogbonna.
wing backs Antonio & Cresswell.

Obiang & Rice to hold

Front 3 of Lanzini, Hernandez and maybe Ayew.

Ayew injured? That's a relief. Can someone now kidnap Noble for the day?

Ayew injured, isn't he..?

deanfergi 4:57 Mon Sep 4
Re: What do we want from the Huddersfield game?

Hart
Zab / Collins / Ogbonna / Cresswell
Kouyate Obiang
Noble
Antonio Chicharito
Carroll

Re: What do we want from the Huddersfield game?
Here's a thought rather than shoehorning Noble into the side why not play Ayew just behind the striker where's he was so effective for Swansea and play Holland on the left

It makes perfect sense now why we released our other wide options Feghouli & Snodgrass, this Club is a basket case

2 up front would be a start...

I want three points

Re: What do we want from the Huddersfield game?
Perhaps Bilic should ask Noble where he wants to play?

I can see the reasoning for wanting to lose to force a change, not that I'd support that view, but right now after three games we have zero points and the worst GD in the league. We need to start getting some points now or we will be relegated.

Lily. The only role I want Noble to play is left back.
As in left back in the dressing room

Carroll back for this?

Will Lanzini be fit?

Justin

The best stuff I've seen from Noble was when he got the chance to work more in attack with Tevez and Payet. He'll often go up and help when he can, but he doesn't have the legs to get back and defend. He'd be better off with a brief to stay in and around the middle third. he'd be able to get back eventually and help defend, but he shouldn't be the one expected to get back first and shield.

Re: What do we want from the Huddersfield game?

Exactly my thoughts, Noble in front of the defence is not a good idea anymore, he is a bench player now, he could play Lanzini's role until Manu gets back then back to the bench again. He would do a job, thats it.
